One of the great aspects of ravelry is being able to share and be part of the wider knitting community worldwide. An excellent way to participate is through KALs or knitalongs.
Here is a quick tutorial on how to participate in an Artyarns KAL. Other Kals may vary but most will follow this type of process.
1.Find the pattern on ravelry and click on Cast On. This creates you projet page which you will be able to ammend and update at anytime by going to your notebook and clicking on projects.
2.If you click on edit, you will be able to change the title, add information about the yarn you are using and where you purchased it.
3.Then, click on photos and add a photo of your yarn. With an Artyarns KAl, once you put the photo up and the details are all filled up, Iris will send you the first part via a message. Typically, she is quick to send it but keep in mind that it is a manual process. There may be a slight delay if she is away from the computer. My experience is that it is super quick.
4. You will see a message notice in the top right hand screen. Click on it and you will find the first part of the pattern.
5. Then, once you finish the first part take a picture and upload it to your project page. The next thing you know you will get another message with part 2.
6.The fun part with Artyarns and Iris is that there is usually a free pattern at the end of the whole process to reward us for all of our efforts. I know that sometimes I just need that little carrot at the end of the stick to get the project done 😉
